Lake Clifton Thrombolites Thrombolites
Thrombolites are a little bit of history. Located in the Yalgorup National Park, thrombolites are a extremely rare and primitive life form. They consist of single-celled bacteria that deposit layers of calcium and silt that overtime slowly grow into these rounded rocks. Scientists believe thrombolites are relics from the earliest form of life and that they are the origins of oxygen in the atmosphere. Thrombolites are mostly extinct with very few living examples still available to see.
